Matka means mother in both Slovak and Polish. Growing up, making pierogi was a family affair. Every generation would have a hand in rolling the dough, peeling potatoes and pinching pierogi. Using my Grandma T’s recipe with new creative flavors, Matka Pierogi are made to fill the belly and soul.

Aka Matka, taka Katka!

What are

pierogi?

Pierogi (Polish plural for pierog) are a type of wheat based dumplings common in many Central and Eastern European countries including Poland, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine . Traditionally they are filled with potato and served alongside sour cream and caramelized onions. At Matka we offer traditional potato pierogi as well as fun new fillings based on what’s in season.
